Hi internet! *waves*
I’ve been looking around for a fancy New Year’s Resolution-y idea to start blogging about, but I’m having quite some trouble coming up with a good one.
Blogging about cooking a new recipe per day is taken (see: Julie & Julia); so is exercising every day. Ditto to reading a book per day. Even cooking in a crockpot daily is taken! (I just got my first crockpot for my birthday. Its purty).
So, here’s the plan: I only have so much time after work in a given day, so I don’t think I could necessarily go from zero to 365 with all of the above mentioned categories, but I could certainly do ONE (or maybe even TWO) of those things on any given day. Eh? Not exactly rocket science, but this girl needs to get her butt on the line (and consequently, online!)
The four things I wished I did more of in life are the following:
Read books – like, good ones. I love you, Jennifer Weiner, but you’re a tad too chick-litty for me. I need to read the great authors, and even just the multitudes of books I have purchased and not yet read due to sheer laziness.
Try new recipes – all too often, I make stuff up based on what I have in my fridge. For my birthday party, I tried a couple of new recipes, followed to the T, and loved it! It gave me such sense of security. I have a bazillion cookbooks that I don’t use a whole lot, so this would be a wonderful project.
Exercise more – my standard is to hop on the elliptical for 30 minutes and call it a day. That is, when I get around to it. I need to step it up.
Writing – i have a (secret, hidden, no-one can ever read it, ever) blog, but I only update once or twice a month. I have all these daydreams about being handed a book contract for my fabulous first novel, but never really got around to starting it. Must begin writing more. Hello, blog!
I think chronicling these four things will really help me enjoy them more and have more accountability, so voila. My life now has more Books, Recipes, Exercise and Writing.
I’m sure I’ll think of other things, but that’s the plan. This is meant to be FUN! I love doing all four BREW activities, so I think writing about them will make me enjoy them more.
Tonight I have Teddy Kennedy’s biography that I borrowed from a friend. I had started Curtis Sittenfeld’s “The Man of my Dreams” but I like the idea of the biography better.
Expect me back later tonight. Toodles!
